Rats on a Sicking Ship

Whether or not there's any buzz of this felt back home or not... well, Osaka and Tokyo NOVA teachers were paid on Friday. No one else in the country was.

This notice isn't for my branch, but we had an identical one faxed over on Friday saying we'll be paid on Tuesday the 18th.

Basically, NOVA's dying. Last month saw the staff have delayed pay, but I learned that a bond was taken out to pay them. Now it's our turn.
The rumour is that there's a good chance we'll not be paid, but I'll post here as soon as I do. To work tomorrow or not to work.

Either way, it's looking unlikely that NOVA will still be afloat for next month's pay.

I'll do some more reading and net browsing and post something later.

Work News

I ended up buying a Nintendo DS and got the Kanji software to go with it. It's pretty difficult, but I've managed to unlock the second level (of about 10 levels). This second level has way too many new Kanji for me, so I'll be running through it til my eyes bleed, methinks.

I heard some pretty big news regarding Nova this week. There was talk a few days ago that some local branches were closing down. If you're unaware, Nova's had a few dodgy things be revealed over the last 12 months and they lost a bit of money as well as reputation.

So on Friday I had a few people doing help-shifts at my school and they were saying that their branch was one of the closing ones. I heard that as many as 10 schools are going from Kobe and the cities around it. These guys I was talking to said they'll all be basically merging with my school. Getting another 7-8 teachers is definitely going to change the way work is for me, as we'll likely have twice the amount of teachers working each day. Then there'll be all the students and staff as well as the student files and books etc coming over too.
I don't know if we have the space for it all, but I guess I'm lucky I'm at the main Kobe branch and no actually one of the people having to be transferred.

It shouldn't actually affect me in any other way, but I'll keep you posted. These branches close at the end of the month.

I'll keep you posted.
